Others

Here are some others the people know and visited this week.

This is Jonah on a getoffthat. This is in fact a heygetdownoffthererightnow, which is possibly the best kind of getoffthat.

Has anyone seen that movie "LaserCats"?

This is Mia. She is small like me and shaped like me. I wonder if we are related?

Rusty has chosen Bag and Closet themes.

This is Gus practicing napping. He is a very committed napper and practices his technique several times a day. His hobbies include trips to Counter, knocking things off Counter, cuddling, yarn surfing, and being Inthewindow.

Gus is an accomplished pen roller.

Homeward

Amymom camedown this weekend. At first, I hidin the dark small places I wentto Closet and Underbed a lot. Then when I did comeoutto where the people were, I stayed shieldedbehind oneof the large Getoffthats whereI could keep an eyeon the people.

Once I realized that the people had no plans other than to gorge themselves on pizza, watch noisy teevee, and talk nonstop, I came out to be admired.

But in the morning, it happened. I knew there was a chance so I had goneto Underbed. This did not matter because the man camein and moved the mattress. My day was very unpleasant for a while. After I had been hunted and captured, I was bound (well, I was confined at least - they put me inside Catcarrier) then made to stayin Car for a long time.

It was a harrowing experience. Please send easy bird and tuna. It calms my nerves and improves my grammar.

I love easy bird

Just because I am cute and orange and small does not mean I will entertain you.

Wait a minute. What is that? Is that "easy bird"?

Yes. I think it is.

(one slice of turkey later...)

I love easy bird. You have easy bird. Therfore, I love you.

More bird please.

(No humans were harmed in the making of this post)

My heritage

I sit like an Egyptian. When I do, I sit up very straight and I line up my paws in a row. I can sit up quite straight. I have extremely good posture.

Hey, take the picture already.

That's better. According to this, the ancient Egyptian depiction of cats was with the "tail... always placed neatly against the right side of the animal."
As you can see, my tail is indeed placed neatly against my right side. Further, "This reflects the Egyptian tradition of depicting all animals in hieroglyphics as facing right." And I am facing right.

This means humans should...

The good old days.
As cats were sacred to Bast, the practice of mummification was extended to them, and the respect that cats received after death mirrored the respect they were treated with in everyday life. The Greek historian Herodotus wrote that in the event of a fire men would guard the fire to make certain that no cats ran into the flame. Herodotus also wrote that when a cat died, the household would go into mourning as if for a human relative, and would often shave their eyebrows to signify their loss. Such was the strength of feeling towards cats that killing one, even accidentally, incurred the death penalty. Another Greek historian, Diodorus Siculus, describes an interesting example of swift justice imposed upon the killer of a cat: about 60 BCE, he witnessed the chariot of a Roman soldier accidentally run over an Egyptian cat. An outraged mob gathered and, despite pleas from pharaoh Ptolemy XII, killed the soldier.

Stinky

This is Rose, reporting again from Connecticut. Today the people say I stink. The man says he picked me up and cuddled me - this is what he calls the forcible restraint - and now his hands and shirt smell bad. Sometimes I do this. I do not think I am "stinky" during these times though. I think I am aromatic.
